thats a timing problem i think.
i think my light took a crap on me also, it was a carquest light...
sounds like retarted timing, or way to far advanced.
do your headers glow at light after you make a wot run, of they do then you are either way lean- which can be a vac leak or retarded timing.
a vac leak after the maf can make it run lean. if its sucking, then fix that first.

thanks stinkinlincoln for your help, you too adder, I think I may have to bring it down to you, but im strapped for cash, ya kno? I restabbed the restabbed distributor that I already restabbed after restabbing, so I'm positive that my timing and distributor are on point...i flipped the IAC upside down and adjust the tps to .733 and it seems to run steady no surging at around 900rpms. otherwise IAC at normal position the car won't run for more than a second, and with slight throttle can be held at around 1000rpms. with the IAC upside down the car surges any higher than .8 I'm not sure what any of this means, but im open for any words of wisdom, if im leaving any other vital info out let me know I think thats all I learned today. Would leaving my EGR unplugged have any effect on my idle or driving?
also i changed out the plugs, the guy before me had some bosch platinums in there wtf with 4 arc's.....i replaced those with motorcrafts sp450's after one of the platinums snapped off in the 4th cylinder.. what a joy that was
no I haven't, the lights been on and off. Even since I bought the car. I've never had one that it hasn't but i guess I can use a wire and count the flashes...
i took it for a ride with the IAC upside down, timing at 12 degrees, tps was at .733 so it was idling around 900rpms pretty steady, car ran relatively good. no surging, pickup was a little better than I originally posted, now itslousy low end and slightly better topend but either way its not smooth. even at WOT cant get it to chirp 2nd, where as it used to cook through 2nd no prob...the power is kinda in and out through the revs...im puzzled even more..
