Do I need to change any of the other sensors on the explorer motor to Mustang sensors??

So I picked the motor up today it looks really good. The question I now have is it came with the explorer wiring harness. Should I use that one or should I use the mustang harness?

You should use a mustang harness.

My next question then is what do I do about the ignition? The GT-40P motor has coil packs, not a distributer like the 94-95 5.0's had. The wiring wont be the same for that will it??

It would be cool to use the explorer crank trigger setup but you would need a explorer computer, and modify the harness to fit the mustang. The easiest thing to do would be to run a distributor you will need the mustang harness. Are you going fuel injected?

Yeah I have to go fuel injected because we have state inspections here and you cant go from fuel injected to carb if it originally had fuel injected. I can get my hands on the explorer computer thats not that big of a deal I wonder how hard it would be to modify the wiring harness or if it would even be worth it.

I don't know but it would be sweet to have a crank fired 302 in a mustang. Also do you need the mass airflow sensor. On a scale of 1 to 10 it would be a 11 to do that.

Yeah I know I have to have the Mass Air. I guess I'm going to have to pull out my mustang harness and compare it to the Explorer harness and go from there.

If your mustang was V6 they will be no where similar. It will not be easy making that explorer harness work. Also what computer are you going to use cause the explorer is automatic and mustang is 5 speed and the AWD. That thing would run crazy. You would be best off getting a mustang harness.
