So this question is in relation to my '65 coupe but I wanted to post it here because I knew I would get better response since I am running a late model trans. Ran t5's in my coupe for a while, built a nice stroker and kept breaking them so I finally upgraded to a tremec. I have a JMC hydraulic set up for the t5. This set up has a bracket that bolts to the trans and then the slave cylinder bolts to it. As you all know this will not work on the TkO 500 I'm running. I am looking for input on a hydraulic set up for the tremec. I have found hydraulic throw out bearings, but they are pricey at $500-$600. I can buy a kit for about $500, but I'm looking for a more economical solution for right now. I have also found a pull style slave that Forte makes that goes in the bellhousing where the cable would and pulls the fork. This is also about $180. This price doesn't kill me but I know I can solve this problem for cheaper. I have looked at wilwood pull style's that have a rod at one end. These are only $50 or so. My question is has anyone tried these style of slave's and if so, can you bolt it in the bell housing where the cable is retained and pull from there, or will I have to fabricate a bracket? I can do the fabrication but unfortunately I do not own a torch or welder and in order to do it will have to go back and forth between my shop and my house, which is a 45 minute drive one way. And you know this kinda stuff takes a couple of tries. I apologize for the long post and greatly appreciate any input.

Imo I'd just buy a kit that has been designed for the application , unless of course you are good at fabricating brackets to make your old set up functional

ya but like I said a kit is $500-$600... This means every time a slave breaks $500. Every time I need a master $500. This is why I don't like kits. I know someone out there has a hydraulic set-up on a tremec that they pieced together.

my opinion is you gotta pay to play and do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again at least with the kit you don't have to worry about fabbing anything up and saves you a lot of trouble

guess ya'll don't understand the information I am looking for here. Thanks anyway but I'll figure it out on my own. Probably just fabricate a bracket so that I can have a $50 replaceable slave instead of a $500 one.
