Hey guys. I have been looking at getting a 87-93 GT for a while now, and found one locally. It's a 1987 GT, clean, I know personally that it runs good. My question is on the amount of KM's that is has. Ya I live in canada so I guess i'm going to have to convert to miles for you americans. But anyway, it has around 210,000 KM on it(so about 130,000 miles). These are on the original engine so the body has the same ammount. This car is pretty much stock. So the main question I have here is do you think that is too many KM's on a car to buy or not? I was thinking that it is ok because its a 22 yr old car so that works out to only about 9500KM(5900miles). This car has been well maintained and is not winter driven. I dont think it has any rust.
Do you think buying a car with these numbers on the odometer will still have lots of life left in it or would it be a ticking time bomb? I was thinking it still would have lots of life in it but I just wanted some imput from you guys on your experiences.
Thanks a lot

I bought my '92 with 195, 000 kms (in Canada as well), and didn't think twice about it. I grew up around the car and knew it had never seen rain or snow. I've put another 15 on it in the past three years of owning it and have yet to have a problem. They're tough cars! I grew up around my 'stang and when it went forsale I had to have it. But it's been abused hard all its life but still works like a top. As for buying that mustang it'd depend on condition and price but IMO I wouldn't let the mileage interfere. Hope it helps!

The motor is just being broke in. As long as the oil is changed when needed it will last forever. Since you are in canada you need to look for rust on the underbody, in the fenders and wheel wells.

190,000 miles on mine and still going strong with mods in sig the 5.0 can last a long time as long as its well maintained as others said and can also take a beating

Carfax tells me that mine has over 300,000kms. Burns/leaks oil but runs damn good. only owned it a little over a year but I haven't had any sort of mechanical problem. I'm not gentle either but these cars like it rough.
Amen, guys. I bought my car 13 years ago, and it had 140k miles on it. It's been my daily driver since. I passed 300k a couple months ago. Besides a blown head gasket, it runs great! How many other cars fall apart right at 100k miles? 5.0 FTW!
