Default What's the best type of oil to use?

My 5.0 has about 150K. Which is better- regular or synthetic? Which brand, what weight?

This is the debate older than dirt. Any kind of synthetic is pretty good. My opinion is the best on the shelf is Royal Purple, Redline, Mobil1, Amsoil and the list goes on. With 150K Id stick with some 10W40.

i've always used castrol 10w30 no matter if its syntec or regular. but i live in houston, you should always abide by your climates zones though when deciding on an oil

Royal Purple FTW! not to hyjack your thread or anything, but my car has 94,000 and change on it. I changed it about 2000 miles ago it was the first time I changed the oil since I bought the car (the oil was changed when I bought it, with 89,000). I changed it with Royal Purple 5w30. Now when I pull away after Idling for a little there is a little bit of smoke, and when I go WOT it smokes a tiny bit. Should I be running a heavier weighted oil like 10w40?

do the smoke test on the engine take off the oil camp when the car is cool start up the car and look for smoke if u can use the throttle on the engine to rem it up no more then like 2500 if smoke comes out then the engine is bad usely .
