Exclamation New to cars, looking for advice!

Hey, I'm turning 16 next year and me and my dad were talking about getting a car then. So I've always wanted my dad's 1990 mustang gt "5.0" so I asked him about it. He told me that he would buy me an automatic one, "used" as my first car, and then work my way up. I plan to rebuild a lot of the car, but do you guys have any suggestions as to what to look for when buying it? Thanks!

Was this supposed to be a helpful comment, or were you just being a dick?
Thanks to all comments, they are appreciated.

I would think it would be used.
I think that these cars are money pits and to get it as a first car.......but hey to each their own. I love building up mine though,

Umm, first off I'm pretty sure I was just asking him if it was real advice. I am a, "newbie", which is why I made this post, so you are the one who is quick to call anyone anything. I appreciate his comment and know that he wasn't being a dick, which is exactly why I asked. Also, mstngsule68, I thought you were telling me to look for a car with those things in it, that's why I thought you were being a dick, but I see that you were telling me to stay away from it. Thank you much and I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

P.S absolutbspec, you can get used 5.0's for around 5-6 grand. Now I now that's a lot of money, but compared to a new car, 10+ grand, I'd say it's a good deal, but yeah I've always been a fan of mustangs.
