Default test drove a car, won't stay running

if you let off the gas it stalls, i was thinking egr, the guy selling the car said it was the egr vacuum solenoid, but i dunno how trustworthy the guy is, sound right to all you guys? it runs decent when your giving it gas. This is an '88 5.0 sd.

so take the vaccum source to the evr selonoid and plug it off, if he is right car will no longer stall
