Default How to tell if I have gears?

I just bought an 89 mustang and wanted to know if there is anyway to tell if there are gears in the car and what ratio without taking the rear end apart. Can I get an idea with the rpm's or anything at a certain speed? Thanks.

Jack the rear up and put on jack stands. Put car in neutral. Get under car and turn rear tire one revolution and count how many times the d-shaft rotates compared to one wheel rev. IE my shaft spin 3.5 times compared to tire. = 3.55 rear gears.

jack up the rear end, mark the driveshaft. rotate one of your tires one time, and count how many times the driveshaft turns to the mark you made.

3 1/4 = 3.27
3 1/2 = 3.55
3 3/4 = 3.73
<4 = 3.90
>4 = 4.10
