no, some are real gt40's .... i think b4 '97 they are real, '93/'94 cobra's are real, and lightning's with 351's are real

the casting number will end in ze-aa

so like f1ze-aa , f3zee-aa , f4ze-aa also the bars are a dead giveaway on the front of the heads... 3 bars = gt40, 4 bars = gt40p

here is actually a good deal i found on p heads and these would be worth it for a budget racer

http://detroit.craigslist.org/pts/1262640533.html

real 40's sell for $300-$500 bare and stock, a little exhaust porting and get rid of the "bump" and they respond well. my buddy went 11's just like that w/ a stock gt40 tubular intake and 125 shot on all rest stock, just 4.10's and 5-speed

i would never buy an explorer upper... they are no better than stock, actually w/ no head work... no intake will give you more than 5-10 hp

the lower of the explorers w/ the real 40's have a good lower, the "p" explorers have smaller ports on the lower intake.. so it IS NOT the same as all gt40 lowers, all gt40 uppers will bolt to it, but you need to port the he!! out of it

do a search on the guy who ssaid "gt40's for $100 should i buy" he posted a chart in there that has the years for real 40 V "p" explorers w/ casting numbers on it

so if i am getting real gt40 heads is it best to use a real gt40 lower intake and with my stock upper intake is fine? I called this junkyard and they have a 1996 explorer. Will that one have real gt40 heads and the lower intake?

Yes, but the explorer GT40's have a bigger combustion chamber (64cc) and should be milled a little for decent compression...
