The Ps have a different spark plug angle, which is supposed to ignite the combustion chamber more efficiently, and therefore "better", however, you need particular headers or spark plug boots to deal with the increased angle of the plugs sticking out.

I have P's and long tube headers...I had to flip my plug wires around to clear the header tubes. When I mean flip them around, I mean the spark plug side of the wire is now on the distributor and vice versa.

thank god I was broke when i wanted to throw some GT40ps on, b/c I would of been over those heads in a couple of months. Save your money and get some heads you can build on in the future, plus drop 50lbs.

Remember that the Cobra Gt40 heads had a smaller combustion chamber (62cc) than the explorer gt40's (64cc).. So if your going to use the explorer heads factor in cost for milling them down..

Where as the Gt40p heads have a 59cc combustion chamber with redesigned plug location for more efficient combustion.. And most long tube's and shorty headers will fit the p-heads with 90* plug boots..

real gt40's (cobra heads) are way better than any "p" head no matter what anyone says

and "redesigned" plug location is just a nuisance , nothing else
