I had mine set to 14 without a hint of detonation.I knew guys around town that had them turned up even higher than that.As long as it doesn't ping you'll be ok.
Yap, mine is set to @ 17* now. You will notice a slight difference is power.
I originally had mine set to 21* !! But it started to surge at idle and some pinging I think.. so I set it back down.

k guys i went to bump my timing with my buddy but when he shined the light on my balancer it didnt show the marks. then when i took a wire brush to it i could see some markings but had no idea how to tell which was what and how to read them.. it was just 2 white lines like an inch apart? so i manually turned my distributor but i forgot to disconnect the spout lmao.. so right now my dizzy is turned a little but i heared that the computer will automaticly change my timming back to stock if i didnt disconnect the spout? is this true? even tho the dizzy is turned a bit? what should i do?

will my timing be affected due to me moving the dizzy previously? or will my timing stay the same even tho its been moved? so i can just disconnect the spout and rotate it a little then connect it back and im good?

Take the spout out when the car is running and you will see how the timing changes. When the spout is out, retard/advance the timing until it is at a degree which you know (10*?). Then adjust from there.
Make sure you don't get caught in the fan. :P
