I've got a 1986 Mustang GT that is all set up for open track events and driver schools. It has a .030 over mallory metal balanced 302, coated TRW forged pistons with reliefs. The heads are semi-ported J302's that I want to upgrade with 2.02 intake valves, lighter springs and get the heads fully ported. I've got a tubular GT40 manifold set-up, 1.72 rockers, 77mm Pro M mass air, 24 lb injectors and the stock 1986 cam (which ramps up faster then the 1987-95 cams do).

Any idea who knows/has experience about porting J302's including unshrouding the valves?

I also want to go with a higher RPM intake set-up and cam and maybe 30 lb injection set up. Any ideas? I've got a 3.73 out back with a T-5 and I'd like to move the power band up to 6500 RPM with a new chip for open track events.

30lb injectors are fine with your set-up. I made 271rwhp/311rwtrq w/30's, had 0 drivability problems and yes I still run them(with an FMU) on my mustang w/Vortech@16psi. I have 42lb injectors, but haven't had the time to throw them on and tune with them
