Default Car is over heating!

Hey guys iv got a 1985 5.0L GT Hatch.

The car is over heating!

The past two days iv driven home from work the hose going to the top of the rad and the water temp sending unit have just sprayed out fluid when i stop the car in my driveway..

Today i opened up the rad and it was bone dry! So i filled it to the top with water and coolant.

What could it be? My termostat? The previous owner said the termostat sometimes sticks? or something like that? What should i do? and how much does a new termostat cost for an 85?

Sounds like it is sticking shut. You can get a new one for about $10. If your lucky, you haven't blown a head gasket yet from cooking the engine.
