Default Elecetrical Problems 89 Mustang Lx

Hey guys,
I would like to start off by saying thanks for checking this page out i appreciate your time and thoughts. Now, lets get started. I drive a 1989 Mustang Lx 5.0. The problem i have is that my power windows and my radio do not work when i crank up my car until i bang on the steering wheel a couple times. The Head lights work fine on the car at all times and if i dont start the car but turn the key backwards, all electrical items on the car work perfectly. But when i engage the key and start the car i have problems with the windows and radio. Any ideas on what this could be? When i am driving and i push on the steering wheel to much somtimes it shuts off the radio and the windows fail to go up or down until i bang the steering wheel in the right spot. Also When either the windows or the radio fails both fail. Is it a simple part i need to replace or some major electrical problem that i have? thanks for your time.

Thanks,
Marcus

most likely the ignition switch, maybe the wiring has come loose in the connector over time. pull the shroud off the column and take a look.

Ford had a recall on the ignition switch several years ago. the electrical connector would melt and cause electrical problems.
