I didn't think of that. Didn't know a machine shop would do that. I am thinking i will soak the old gaskets in Xylol or just gas, and hope it will then come off with a putty knife.
I use 3M Roloc polishing discs for all my gasket cleaning jobs. Work like a champ and they don't scratch, scuff, or maul even the cheapest aluminum.
Need an angled air die grinder for best use though. With a high enough RPM tool, you don't even have to pre-clean a big thick gasket, like an oil pan. Just let it come flying off as dust.
i used a rozor blade in a gasket scraper.. also if ur looking to clean it up a bit and paint it. i just used a wire wheel on a drill then used engine primer and silver engine paint. (high temp paint)
thanks for all the input. I am just gonna save myself the time and bring it to a machine shop. While there i should have them tap any holes needs. It's off a 96 and has internal EGR, so what else if anything needs to be tapped?
