Redemption all you need to do is start it up, look for leaks , make sure all sounds normal, drive around the block and make sure it drives as it should, then let it rip!!!! if something is wrong it'll manifest itself immidiately or shortly thereafter......the fallacy of ring break in is just that!!!! the way most rings are nowadays/ moly rings, they are seated in the first 20 min of run time!! ask a real builder about this/ woody at ford strokers, and as far as oil goes 10w 30 will be fine as for the reason stated above, did just that/all what I stated above and no issues, infact done it on many motors...good luck
Exactly. When I finished my 408, first time I let it get hot just to bleed the cooling system. Second time pedal was to the floor. That'll break in the rings for ya. All I run for oil is 10w30 Rotella T, Non synthetic.

i need a few more things just got done installing manual choke and lokar cable system looks pretty clean, got my k&n filter. just need fan, fan belt and inlet feed to carb, and fluids then awaking the beast =]
i personly wouldnt run it hard with in the first 20 mins cause any cam company will tell you that the first 15 mins of a cams breakin is its most prone time to twist or break im speaking form experince lol it sucks belive me to have a motor run fine for 10 mins give it a half throttle and snap the cam its a p1ss off lol
