I have a completely rebuild 306 from the ground up and after the build I went to start it for the first time and it fired right off and died. Didn't think much of it being the first turn of the key but i cant seem to get it to keep running now. Thought it was a fuel problem but that checked out and now on to ignition. 6al, blaster coil, msd cap and rotor, accel ingnition module. I think we discovered the coil is bad but not sure. Any ideas as to how to check the coil out? Any other problems it could be?

MSD coils are known to be garbage. Swap your stock coil in and see if that helps, however... Its more likely that your base idle is set too low, or your distributor is out of time

ya I tried the the stock coil and the timing light went nuts. Thats why i figured the msd coil was bad. as far as timing goes I can't seem to get it close enough for it to even start now. I had it once and i let a guy mess with it and it got all screwed up and now i cant seem to get back to where i started. but could the reason it falls on its face be a vacuum leak? I have the bbk ssi intake and I have one port that I have no clue where it goes! HELP! Its a badass car but its not very badass sitting in the garage!
