Default Heater core through glove box?

I bought an 88 lx this summer and it needs a heater core. I heard that it is possible to swap this out through the glove box instead of taking apart the console and dash. Has anybody done this?

i thought you could only do that on 86 and lower?

cant do it for sure on an ac car.. ive replaced mine 2wice already and it needs it again.. its a major PITMFA to do btw. w/o completely removing the dash and hvac crap..

you need to loosen the dash then tweak it and have to pry the hvac box and man handle the heater core out and in.. have fun

Only 1986 and older cars that came without AC from the factory get to enjoy the luxury of changing the heater core through the glovebox.

if not really that bad of a job. but definitely are going to have to remove center console and loosen the dash. don't need to take the dash out. I did it and it was my first time ever doing a heater core and it took me an hour not including putting in antifreeze.

would be nice to be able to change through the glove compartment
