1990 GT put a new starter on cranked it probably 2 or 3 times took it for a ride came back shut it off went to crank it again and nothing the lights on the dash come on fuel pump kicks in but no crank and no click. Put on a new solenoid still nothing
I pulled the red with blue stripe wire(about 14 ga.) off of the small terminal and using a remote start switch started the car. Pulled the wires from the clutch pedal switch and jumped them still no start adjusted the clutch switch no start.
I am seriously considering putting in a button unless someone knows what this is. I figure 2 12 or 14 ga wires through the firewall is easier than tracking all this crap.

The small wire on the solenoid, check that w/ a test light and see if it lights in the crank position. If not, look for a short in the ignition switch or the neutral safety switch.
i dont know how electrically inclined you are but you can do continuity checks from the ignotion switch to the solenoid with a fluke. if you dont have a manual with the schematic i will try to tell you what wires to check. i just did mine the other day and it only took 10-15 minutes.
simple, test light and some schooling in el-101 should eliminate the need for a push button, all you need is a diagram of the system, first while holding the key in the crank position check for power on the wire Por50sc told you, if none, = possible ignition switch, if it has power while still holding key in crank check for power down on the wire going to starter, if none = bad selonoid , if it does = bad starter or ground to the starter = case to block

Well I put the button in to get it on the road for the week. Checked and no power at the small wire coming from the clutch switch but jumped it and still nothing so I'm thinking not the clutch switch must be ignition switch. What a pain I will put it off for now.
