get it to run right..?? wtf??? a tune in a carbed car is all in the tuners hand!!!, timing, carb choice, jetting, tweaking adjustments on carb, matching valve springs to cam and have heads set up correctly, proper valvetrain geometry, ect ect....your question is to broad and the answer will encompass your ability to match and put it together and perform all necessary checks then once it runs based on it's drivibility or lack there of, then and only then will your ability to interpret the symptoms at hand, will you be able to know where and what changes/adjustments must be made.

yes, wait till you have some decently performing heads on that car before you start swappin out cams n such. also...stay away from those letter cams, there is much better cams avail that will have better results, trust me, we've all BTDT...and you know what happens? cam goes in the trash and we all buy a better one later. might as well do it right the first time around, dont waste your time/money on a sub standard performance cam. get some heads first.

waste-o-monies.

crappy letter cam + crappy stock heads = even crappier performance.

i've BTDT and power doesnt even hit till 3000-3500rpms. its really disapointing.

Get a trickflow stage 1 cam. Better than the letter cams.

I'd map out a budget first and goal for the ride, then that'll define what parts suit the goal best
