Default sn95 motor in 88 fox?

I was just looking around on craigslist, and I found a possibly promissingad for a new mustang project. The ad is for a 1988 mustang gt. It has a 5 speed with zoom stage 2 clutch, new clutch fork, zoom adjustable clutch cable, new flywheel, ford racing wires, new ignition switch, new powersteering pump, short equal length headers, off road H pipe, limited slip diff. The body is ok and the interior is ok.
My question is that the person told me it has a 5.0 motor from a 1994 mustang, and it is being run on the original 88 5.0 ecu. He says there is an electrical problem.--( with some sensors possibly, not sure what, but soon to find out.) he claims it runs strong and is drivable. Now what potential problems does this set up offer? What could i be getting into?
He is asking $1500. Is it worth it?
Or if i get it should i put a carburater set up on it?
Thanks is advance. Sorry for being longwinded and asking so much. Money is tight and I don't want to make a mistake.

the actual motor is identical from 87-95 internally(minor cam changes along the way and the 93-95 dont have forged pistons)

externally the 87-93 is the same as the 94-95 except for the timing cover and front dress(water pump balancer PS pump,AC cpmpressor etc) the dipstick tube is different and the distributor connection and upper intake and connections

as for an electrical problem i doubt its from swapping over to the 94-95 motor as it wouldnt run without changing over teh correct electrical connections unless they have hacked and spliced.....

I did drive it today, but it seems to have some wiring rats nests. It cranks fine, but it is a little funny when you step on the gas. it revs and stays there for a couple of seconds. It needs a lot but what can you expect for the price. I think I will need to rewire a buch of stuff, or just put a carb on it.
He told me he would now take $1000. I didn't even ask him to lower the price.
I will have to think about it for a minute.
