Default Slipping clutch??

I cannot tell if my clutch is slipping? Last week I was on the freeway in 5th and needed to get past a semi. I gave it gas, and the car really did not move, then all of a sudden it did. It is really hard to explain. But the best analogy I could get is it is kind of like a VTEC(I guess). There's no power then all of a sudden it hits. It happens a lot, throughout all gears, but is also somewhat intermittent. I give it gas and the rpms move, but the car does not seem to have any power, then all of a sudden it does at a higer rpm, like maybe the clutch finally grabs. Thinking it was fuel related, I taped a fp gauge and drove around and it was fine. Fuel filter and 190lph pump are two moths old. Just for extra insurance I replaced my fpr(had an extra one). Thinking it was a hesitation I checked my ignition. Plugs and wires are two months old, swapped my coil and dizzy from my other Mustang to no avail. When I had the engine apart, I inspected my clutch. It had an awkward wear on one part of the disk, but it looked like it had been recently replaced(maybe 1-2 years old MAX) and had looked to be in decent shape. My dad's Acura's clutch currently has a slipping clutch and it feels completely different though. I was just curious as to what you guys think? Any help would be great! Thanks!

Sounds like the clutch could be the issue. Does the rpm's drop back down when the car starts pulling normal then go back up like nothing ever happend?

Not that I can tell of. But, the car eally acts up once the car has warmed up, possibly causing excessive heat on the clutch. But I'll pay more attention to what you said. Thanks!

normally if your clutch is slipping, you can go in 4th or 5th and step on the gas and the rpm's will go up but the car wont go anywhere.

it doesn't sound like the clutch is slipping necessarily. If it was slipping when you stepped on the gas the RPM would go up but your car wouldn't really accelerate. then after a few your car would catch up to the PRM. Usually you can smell it burning if it's bad enough too.

Yeah, basically what you are saying is kind of what is happening. I give it gas, the rpms go up somewhat normal, but the car moves slowly, then right around 3000rpm, the car regains speed. It's very prevalent from 1500rpm-3000rpm in second and fourth gear. I drove the car 50 miles today with 0 problems, so it's very intermittent( got on it maybe twice too).

it should get progressively worse in the higher gears, it should slip the worst in 5th. I wouldn't think it would be intermittent though, should always happen.
