Im going to end this thread right now... Ok so basically, have fun with your swap but not many people in a mustang forum are going to thinks its that great... This is a mustang forum, or course everyone here loves fords and ford parts! Good for you if you like it but your going to lose this battle in the forum.

Who said it's a battle, he's just asking for a little information about the swap.

Seen it done many times before, and as much as I like my chevy's I wouldn't do it.. but if you know chevy like the back of your hand and you're comfortable working with them, why the hell not? I say go for it.

there's a guy here with 302 running 11's, there's a guy there with a 347 running 11's, a guy here and there with a 351 running 11's and even a guy over that way with some chevy running 11's. Does it matter what engine he has and how much he paid? NO! Because no matter what anyone says you can build any platform with the same amount of money and reach the same hp goals. Is Chevy better than Ford, NO! Is Ford better than Chevy, NO!

And Chupac, the 9.4 Fox with the chevy engine, what kind of money are you talking about? Monopoly, the euro, or pasos? B/c you can make 9.4sec fox with Ford powerplant using american money and it CAN be done with the same amount as it would using a chevy based engine.

hmm.. i just thought it was neat seeing a chevrolet motor in a ford.. :| no need to bite someones head off - clearly that's no what i was talking about. i know plenty of 302s and crap that run 11s.. but that wasn't the point.

I know I shouldn't keep this stupid post going, but I need to sound off. You can't compare the 302 to the 350, that's like comparing apples to oranges. Compare the 302 to the 305/307, and the 351W to the 350, now your comparing apples to apples. All said and done in stock form, the 302 wins hands down over the 305/307, and the 350 slightly edges the 351W. They all can be modified, and parts are pretty close in price nowdays. Ford did let the LS1 get out in front of them, they need to do their homework and reel them in. I'm a Ford purist, so I'd opt for dropping in a 351/408W in that stang for more power, and leave the 350 to the boring bowtie boys. Chevy big block/small block, seen one, seen e'm all. They look the same now as they did when I was in high school (early 70s).

Chebby: small block, big block (boring)

Ford: 260-302, 351W, 351C, 351M, 352, 360, 390, 400, 427, 428, 429, 460,
Windsors, FEs, Clevelands, Modifieds, DOHCs, Side Oilers and on and on (variety, you never know what's under the hood)

i'll agree with you to an extent with what you are saying but when you are looking at a small block chevy you never know if you have a 267 or a 400 or a 434. especially since all the blocks are very very similar visually. same with the big blocks. but it's all good. whatever you use to go fast.

I will agree, you probably will get people that don't like it. I personally don't have a preference in any company, I like cars & engines for their upsides. Honda has some things up on ford, chevy has some things up on ford, ford has some things up on both. Alot of people don't like it. The only reason I own 5 fords & only 1 gm car is because the mustang is cheaper when it comes down to it. If I put my car into a ditch (because I do drive like an idiot when I feel in the mood & there's no traffic) I know it will be very cheap & easy to fix it & it's lightweight. If it wasn't for those two things, I wouldn't own them.

As for the engine, I wouldn't ask here, too many ford v8 biased people. Heck, you look in the 4 cylinder section, you'll find a few 4 bangers that would stomp most v8 mustangs on this forum.. but most v8 guys think 4 cylinder cars are slow as hell. Same applies for chevy engines. If 350 is your engine of choice & you know your way around them or have access to quite a few cheap, i'd say go with it... there's just as much chevy 350 support on the internet as there is 302.
