400+hp street machine
i have a 95 gt and i want it to have 400+ hp but still be very srteetable, i was thinking going with either a 331 or 347 stroker with forged internals and 8.5:1 compression and then get a sc and run high boost but i heard that strokers arent very streetable, i want this thing to drive perfect on the road, like drive it for hours straight if i wanted to, does the setup im leaning towards sound like it will give me what i want if not what should i do to reach my 400+ hp mark, any input would be great, what do you think guys?

RE: 400+hp street machine
A 331 or 347 will make 400 flywheel HP all day that is streetable with good heads and a decent cam. Add boost and it will make that at the wheels like it was a factory equiped car. no big prob and great driver.,

RE: 400+hp street machine
no need for stroker.
302 with high flow heads and E-303 cam will make about 340hp
add a 8psi supercharger for about 120hp for a total of about
450-475hp with about 360hp top the wheels.
This will be very streetable and run on pump gas.
personally I'm looking at getting a forged piston short block
from coasthigh.com and putting AFR 165 or 185 heads on it.
that should make about 350hp, add a www.kennebell.net blower
on at 8psi and be pushing 500hp with good drivability.
or to keep it simple you could get one of the Ford Racing crate engines
with the GT-40X heads for about $3,500

RE: 400+hp street machine
There is nothing that isn't streetable about a stroker. I did daily drive my >600rwhp pump gas supercharged stroker for quite awhile and I still will occassionally in the summer or when I'm modding my truck.
Don't bother putting a forged crank and rods in a stock block. The block will break long before a stock crank and rods will. Anyone can easily make 400rwhp from a supercharged 5.0. My friend had a stock shortblock with an F cam, TFS Twisted Wedge heads, TFS Track Heat intake and a Novi 2000. At 10psi on 91 octane the car made 466rwhp through an automatic. With any real cam, it would have been over 500rwhp easily. My car is a 3.25" stroke motor with TFS Twisted Wedge heads, Performer RPM intake, .542 lift cam and a Novi 2000. I broke on the dyno and made over 600rwhp and it had never peaked. That was on 93 octane pump gas at 13psi and through an AOD. A decent 347 will make 400rwhp N/A... no blower is needed.
You want 400rwhp with a supercharged motor, buy good cylinder heads. That's all it takes. Even with a stock shortblock and a mismatched cam, you'd have a hard time not making 400rwhp with a set of AFR 184s or TFS TW's and 10psi.
