Default Ricer need Mustang guys help

HEy guys my buddy just an 88 5.0 litre mustang but its got one problem,its and automatic.The thing is he had an 88 4 cylinder too that is standard.i was wondering if he could put the 4 cylinder tranny on the 5.0? This might be a stupid question but i wouldnt know cause i drive a Honda.Thanks

sweet,so its just a direct bolt on?is there a difference in gear ratios between the mustang 5.0 litre manual tranny and the 4 cylinder?

Yes it will, but it won't hold as much power as the 5.0 T-5's. I'd keep the AOD, but if you still decide to do the swap, I'd keep the AOD handy if you don't want to spend the m0oney on a new 5 spd

yeah i would just sell either or transmission and buy a new t-5. you'll be thanking yourself in a few years or at least until you performance upgrades start to stack up.

Try and get a 89 or up t-5. Thats when they started using the hardened gears. They definitely hold up better.

the 4 cyc. tranny is geared much lowert than a t-5 and will not hold nowhere near the power that a t-5 will.
