Ok.. thats what I thought I was confused when stealth said more valves... So even by getting the cobra, does it makes sense to tear down the engine and build it the way I want or when you buy a cobra do you leave it as stock?

I have both the GT and the Cobra Engine...Not really that much difference. You cant even tell the HP difference between the 2. The way it was with me is I bought a GT Convertible and came a across a deal where my buddy wanted to sell his 1994 COBRA engine out of his car to get a 351. So we swopped motors and I sold my GT Engine for $9xx. Kept the Cobra engine for awhile and decided to have it balanced and blueprinted. I realized he had the engine out (the guy charges $1500 just to pull the engine) I decided to boost it up a lil bit also.
Decided to stroke it (331) with AFR 185CC Heads and a couple of more small factors...225 Fuel Pump, 373 Gear, Fluidyne Rad ETC. After all of this I should be pushing aroud 400HP without ANY POWER ADDERS.
Just think about putting the money into a DOHC and compare the difference. A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE it will be.

RE: GT vs. Cobra
yes true your right aout not to much diffrence its basically the name everyones after "cobra" just has a nice ring to it.. hell you can make a GT faster than a cobra visa versa just depends on what you like

RE: GT vs. Cobra
Honestly, the only reason I would opt for the cobra is because of the name... I ve got all these parts ready to do into a my engine so I wouldn't want a dohc crate in there... Im not familiar with it anyway. Either way, I don't think I can go wrong when buying a cobra.

RE: GT vs. Cobra
If you were gonna keep it stock, a cobra's better.
The heads are 1.84 vs. 1.75(?), the intake is better than a GT, but not as good as others, and so on.
If you want to talk about going fast, the cobra's were loaded with options, so they weigh a little bit more than a less heavily (ha ha) optioned GT. Nothing that couldn't be overcome with a bit more power though.
The cobra's should be going up in value.
As far as 4.6's being far superior to 5.0's, that's debatable...
