OK guys thanks for the replys. Is the mass air much better? and how can I tell if it has it? Is there something to look for?
what year did they come out with the fox body? 79? or was it always that way? I hope this isnt a stupid question.

Some models of the 88 had mass air (california edition) and 89 and up all have mass air. IMO mass air is the way to go for ease but its not a necessity... You can tell if it has mass air by looking at the induction. If there is a meter instead of straight tubing leading to the throttle body it is mass air. No sensor = speed density

mass air is better than speed density, if you're looking at fuel injection yes. and yes fox bodies started in 79. they had carbs until 85. and they had the 4eyed headlight look until 86 so i hope that also helps you

my 2 cents is that if its your only car get a hardtop the convertible does not seal up well & the body integrity is crap lots of flex & rattles (please let the sub frame conneters help) but as a 2nd car would not trade the ragtop for anything.

once you go droptop you never go back.. ive had 3 stangs.. a notch a hatch and a drop.. drop by far has been my fave.. not to mention chics dig it when you hit the switch and fold the top as you rumble by. if you are planning to race it out the notch or hatch but for cruising.. droptop by far.

I agree but here in NJ if it was my only car & mine is not the drop top would get old fast. but once the top is down the rattles all go away the top is down 90% of the time I drive it but thats only 8 months a year here the other 4 it sits
