Ive sanded my car,Primed it and its already to paint,I will put 500$ up that my 900$ paint job looks the same or better then a 3500$ job.All the money is in the prep work youd be a fool not to do the prep work on your own car i mean its not brain surgery.Ive seen this guys work he painted my friends 68 bullit (used factory ford 03 bullit paint)for 1,000$ (friend did all the prep work)about a year later he won nicest car at a local car show out of 135 cars.Ive talked to the painted this morning as he explained to me paint shops make most of there money in body work not paint.

I dont know how it is around you but around me it really also depends on where you take it. There are alot of popular body shops around me and all they do is work on lambo's, etc. If you take your car to a place like that expect to pay alot more for their name.

Okay, Gary here asked for an idea of what the cost would be for an entire job. Not just paint??? $3500 is the going rate for a complete paint job just as Gary asked for...............
It may be cheaper in some areas and I guarantee it more expensive in others. Now your talking about just a paint job, and you are correct. For around a grand you can get 2-3 hands of good quality paint a a couple hands of clear, done by a professional. The prep work isnt rocket science, but its tedious, messy, and time consuming, and if its not done correct you can toss the grand you just spent out the window, plus all the time you spent on it. If you know what your doing and have the time, tools and a reliable source to turn to when you have questions jump all over it. Im pretty sure I can shingle my roof also, but do I feel like climbing up there in the blazing heat flack no. I'll pay the prfessionals to do it and Ill spend my time watching **** or re-runs of baywatch!

I was told to expect to pay $1500 for paint alone...primer, sealer, base and clear....Trust me, you get what you pay for when it comes to paint. Do you really want to do it twice? Macco....

I don't know were You can get a car painted for less the 3000 In Lincoln, Ne, Heck the supplies that You need to do a good job will run around 1000 shop cost. This is for a good quility Paint like PPG. "I think the statement You get what you pay for" is true when it comes to body work. Maybe I am just to darn picky.
