Default 80mm MAF not cooperating at all, help

I don't understand, once again, how this can possibly be so hard. Ive got an 80mm MAF with the correct sample tube for 24# injectors, a 76mm C&L trueflow, and a stock throttle body for my 94 cobra. The car runs somewhat poorly and I don't understand why. there doesn't seem to be much turbulence and no leaks... Could that 80mm just be too much for a stock engine?

And would resetting the computer help any of this?

I looked and emailed. They don't have an answer to any of it. They say the 80mm should work with their product, but don't if if the 80mm is simply too big for a stock 94 cobra, or any car for that matter... so that's my question.

try the Ford Technical hot line at 586-468-1356, they should be able to help you. I don't think the MAF can get too big, all it does is measure the air flow, but its signals may be out of range for the application unless you do something with the ECU, but I don't know this for a positive fact.

I'm thinking the MAF is too big. after talking to people I began to really think... When I put my hand in front of the 80mm (no filter) the car idles fine, but when I move my hand away the idel goes down. I think maybe the 80mm is too big for the stock throttle body and at idle the throttle body isn't opened enough so the air just bounces around in there... Any other suggestions besides numbers to call?

this may or may not work, but did you try to adjust your tb, set the screw in a little to keep the tb open a little more

Set the idle higher you mean? I can do that, but I'd rather fix the problem than get around it, but thanks - i'll do that for now... any other suggestions?

if that works and helps, then a new tb is what you need, one other thing, is your iac and tpc good? vfast could probably really help you out

replaced tps and tested idler, so yes. Eh maybe lol... I think that maybe the tb isn't big enough, especially at idle, so the air in that big 80mm just floats around until it goes through the tb.
