very rough idol?
Ok heres the deal, i have a 86 mustang GT. It has a mass air meter on it and it has flow masters and it has MAC performance headers, thats it well a K&N too but thats nothing... first of all when i start it theres a weird noise coming from the starter i think like something sticking out and making a rattle can noise for like 2 seconds than gos back in, could that be my starter bindicks? and now about the idol, When i stop or when it is idoling it idols at 1,200RPMS, and than drops down to like 900RPMS and starts shaking the car back and forth than jumps up to 1,200 -1,300RPMS again, what could cause that and or is it normal? some of the vaccum lines are disconnected and the K&N is a lil cloged up cause it is kinda old... what do u think the problom is?

try this first clean the oil residue off your maf sensor, clean your T/B,egr spacer we can go from there..as for the strater first see if it's not lose..if it's tight, pull it and have it tested....if it's ok buy a set of brushes and replace them thier like 3-4 bucks

could also be a dirty idle air control valve. this is the valve on the side of the throttle body opposite the EGR valve. get some good carb cleaner and clean it when you clean the other things vfast recommended. also plug any disconnected vacuum lines! this lets air in that doesn't go by the MAF and that confuses the computer.
