Why do you put ATF in a manual trans?, I always wondered why that was. Is there even such thing as manual trans fluid?

you don't put ATF in a manual tranny or else you'll ruin it! 5 speeds need something like 80-90W gear oil to properly lube the gears. also, a manual tranny doesn't have a pump like an automatic does so without a lot of other parts, you can't circulate the oil through a cooler like you do with an automatic. NASCAR guys do, but they have separate pumps driven by the driveshaft to cool the oil in the tranny and rear end to help make them survive the rigors of racing in circles.

Lots of other vehicles like the ford ranger with the 5 speed recommend ATF for the trans, So when they try to put ATF in my car at Jiffylube dont let them?

If it was real heavy ATF then it might not be bad, but the weight is the most important thing, not what it says on the bottle as to what type it is.

Ive read many times before that you are to use ATF in the T-5's.

I cant say if this is 100% sure but ive read in many forums and tech articles to use ATF in the T-5's.

By the way i change mine at 10,000.My C4 has a little over 4,000 to go.

When i change it ill be using MOBIL1.
