Default 88 5.0 SHIFTING PROBLEMS

NEED HELP PLEEEEZ!!! I HAVE AN 88 MUSTANG GT 5.0....A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO I STARTED HAVING A HARD TIME SHIFTING GEARS (MANUAL TRANNY) YESTERDAY I WASN'T ABLE TO SHIFT AT ALL. [:@]WHEN I HAVE THE CAR OFF IT SHIFTS NO PROBLEM BUT ONCE I START IT I CAN'T SHIFT AT ALL. ANY IDEAS WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE?????

I had the exact same problem with my 89 5spd. Turns out it was the clutch cable, so I bought an adjustable SVO cable from Motorsports.

Sounds exactly what happened to mine. Mine is grounded now because of the cable. Look at the clutch fork where the cable attatches. It looks like a ten speed brake cable, but bigger. Usually the cable iteslf will frey, but somtimes, the casing will give. Either way, when you find it, you'll see the problem. When you go shopping for the new cable, get the kit which includes the quadrant. Mine snapped yesterday, I got just the cable, put it in, and snapped the quadrant within minutes. So get the kit. Anyone here can tell you how to change it, it's not hard but you should be pretty limber! Hope this helps!
