Default Edelbrock heads with 2.02 valves

I picked up a pair of Edelbrock rpm heads with 2.02 valves in a car purchase and wondered if anybody had an idea of the maximum lift cam that can be used in conjunction with stock block and pistons. Some of the literature suggests that .500 is the maximum lift but there are of course quite a number of issues that figure in to the equation. I have 1.6 roller rockers for the heads as well. Would it be more efficient to sell the heads and replace them with 1.94 valve version? I have a 347 on the engine stand in my head and would like to be able to expand my capabilities a bit with the later build.

My coupe has a stock block and flat tops in it. It wouldn't be worth my trouble to cut the factory pistons and I am not in search of big HP here but I would consider a couple of cams in the .500 range. I just didnt know if I could even try something in the .510 range or if I needed to stay below .500. It is such a stinker to install everything and then find out you are .008 into the top of the piston. I suppose we should also consider duration into the equation.

The "build" I am doing will be another story. I am thinking I might just cash these Edelbrocks in and try some TFs. I can use a little more cam now and they will still do the build proud later. Hate to give up the bigger valves though.

Thanks guys

a stock 302 block from the factory do you have to use flat tappet or can you use roller?
