Default timing chain.

wusup peoples maybe u can help me answer my friend question im pretty sure its the timing chain or timing..

my friends 82 302 carb'd which is 157hp 240lbs auto pretty weak motor but is he saving up for another one.

okay here is his problem. He changed his water pump and the same time he wanted to change is timing chain on the 82 302 it was a single timing chain which had some play and He bought a double timing chain to replace it...now everything was put back together he turns it on...now He didnt noticed its idle until i came over and i herd the car for sum odd reason the the idle sounded bearly rough. so we went in his car he drove it during regular acceleration it would act fine, but when he punched it the car tend to force its self and the car would shake like the engine did not want to accelerate at high speed on demand.

so i figured is the new double timing chain it self..
any suggestions??

Default RE: timing chain.

maybe he didn't align the cam with the crankshaft right???? you know those dots have to be aligned up right when installing a timing chain. I wouldn't think that the chain being double would have anything to do with it.

yeah i asked them the exact same thing and he said they were both aligned.. but he doesnt have a timing light so tomarrow were going to check the timing to see if its correct.
