Default Wicked Wheel Hop!

This is my first post... Woo hoo!

Anyways, I have an 83 GT that is basically stock (exhaust is not). This is my second one. I am having some issues with wheel hop, and I was looking to get some advice on correcting the problem. Obviously there are traction bars, and other parts I may not know about, but can anyone be specific on what brand they used, how much it cost, the difficulty of installation, and also how well they worked?

My last 83 initially had bad hop, but it kinda worked itself out. The system used on the old one was just like these ones I found on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-...68005521QQrdZ1

But I dont see those on my new 83.

Any advice would be great!

the bushings in your control arms and your quad shocks are worn out.

www.maximummotorsports.com
the best, but expensive.
beware cheap control arms, you get what you pay for.

you can remove the quad shocks all together with better up and lower control arms
or better yet a 3 link Torque arm from MaxMotors.

Read thru all the info on MaximumMotorSports web site.
they really explain on each part, what the stock short comings are and
what they did to fix them. Good eye opener on how the Mustang
suspension really works and what pieces are doing what.

my ebay control arms work excellent. they eliminate almost all wheel hop on my car. soo much more traction with the control arms and poly bushings on the bottom. =D

Wheel hop is annoying. I know someone with a 96 maro and its back axle goes apesh*t at even the hint of any gas being applied.

I know when I bought the car that the guy said that the four shock system wasnt hooked up. I hadnt heard of this so he showed me what he was talking about. When we looked in the rear wheel well, there was a location to hook up a horizontal shock. Sounds like this is a quick fix. Am I right on this?

Also, black89GT, what make were your control arms?

Thanks

UPR has a set of U/L's for 169 and so do jdsperformance.com

The quad shocks are not a quick fix...that's how the car comes stock. You can remove them, but you need stronger U/L control arms to control the wheel hop.
