ORIGINAL: pony7up

It has a brand new fluidyne radiator adn all fluids are fine . oil was just changed and looks healthy , not thick ?

Check compression. Also, does it smoke right away or does it take awhile for smoke to show up? I had a an old chevy with a cracked head once. It would drive fine for a couple minutes while it was cold but as soon as it warmed up, BAM, zero power and white exhaust.

don't know about the ticking, but white smoke means antifreeze is burning. you mention that it reeks of gas, which could mean too much fuel pressure or maybe even an injector stuck open or something like that.

look at the spark plugs. they will usually indicate if something other than gas and air has been in the combustion chamber.
