RE: High RPM 5.0 ?'s
DSS offers high revving engines if you got the wallet.

these engines will spin up to 8,000rpm
has to sound incredible

RE: High RPM 5.0 ?'s
The reason I am considering ditching the rotary is due to the fact that mazda is starting to stop making engine parts for the older engines, and I don't see any company starting to produce them.
The TB's are 4x45mm, they also have TB's at 4x50mm. My friend and I are already making manifold for my 13B to use these TB's.
So basically I am going to need more than a balance, cam, rods, upgraded rod bolts, cams, rocker arms, push rods, pistons, porting, oil system work?
Are any of the other american V8's a little bit more suited to turing high RPM's? Like maybe the 4.6 mod motors or LS1's?

i sure wouldn't wanna take my 5.0 into those rpm ranges.
ford did a good job with the boss 302, that thing revs just nutty.
i think if you want high rpm, take some notes and look into that they did with the boss.

RE: High RPM 5.0 ?'s
my opinion is if you want a high revving engine dont go with a V8, maybe u want something more along the lines of the 2.0L Honda S2000 engine for 9000rpm redline. I know a few guys around where i live have been putting LS1s in their RX-7s and its truely awesome... One of em is running 10s.

RE: High RPM 5.0 ?'s
the problem is you're wanting to run high rpm's on a push rod engine.
push rod engines with all those rockers, and lifters and pushrods and valves
is just a ton of moving parts to be moving at the speeds your talking about
Valves are opening and closing like 50 times a second at 6,000rpm. You can make
em do it and they will scream out incredible numbers, but its gonna cost
and not really be street driver due to cam shape.
You want an overhead cam engine for those kinds of rpm's ,imo.
check out the new Cammer 5.0L DOHC for $15,000

Why do you want to rev so high in the first place? Unless you have a complete race car...a high rpm engine is any good for the street. Most of the time you have to build the **** out of them to make power up there whitch means they make little power on the low side. Just build a good 350hp 5.0 and stick it in there. Just build it to go to 6,500 thats much more pheasable. Revs for power on the street is no bargain.

Yeah, being from both sides of the fence (import and domestic), I'd say build a forced induction 302 with some decent revving hardware and the right rear end and you will have plenty of powerband to take care of business. You don't have to spin the **** out of 5000 cc's of motor compared to 1300 cc's to get the power and torque you want.
