How far do you have to push the clutch pedal in? Do you have to push the clutch all the way in, or does it go away by pressing the pedal just enough to where the throwout bearing starts to touch the clutch fingers?

Just recently found the same problem ...sort of in my new 93. I heard some "chatter" under there. i thought it was the new exhaust clanging around down there, until I pressed in the clutch. It's not a tremendous sound I can hear it now and then. I was told it was the throw out bearing. Can I just change the TOB or should I do the whole clutch, like a centerforce?

So you could just change the throw out bearing? Which one do you recommend?

i just changed my TOB. I just went and got a stock TOB from the Autoparts store. They're a little more beefy most of the time. Ive had no problems out of the stock one and ive went 4000 miles on it over the past 9 months.

What did the TOB cost you to put in? And how can you tell it's bad besides the chatter?

i think the TOB costs me $15, and i put that kinda stuff in myself. So i save bundles on labor. Umm...they would just whine when my clutch was out and some times when i pressed the pedal in they would whine. And sometimes it would just sit there at idle and clank...like....Uh...clank clank clank clank...you get the idea...
