forget stroking the 302, get a 351W and have more stroke, for less money
with a stronger block. Stock computer works fine with a chip change and everything
else bolts up.

400hp 351W for ........... $7000

or

400hp 347 for ............... $9,000

hmmm, i think i'll go with the 351w and save $2,000

Well thing 302 and 351 Intakes wont interchange. THe 351 has a higher deck height and your going to need 351 headers made for a Fox. Cause the 351's deck is 1.275 higher than the 302. The older 302 blocks are a little stronger than the 5.0 blocks. From 1968 through about 1974 are the best years for the 302 blocks and stock heads for that matter.

Basically every company sells headers for 351W's so it would not be hard to find them. I dont know exactally which company but I know there are a few out there that sell conversion kits for this swap specifically.

The older 347 kits had problems with the oil ring and land. The new kits no longer have that problem. Just make sure when you look at buyng a kit that it indeed is a new one, youll be able to tell by the piston.

+1 for the 347. I dont have one in my mustang but i do have one in my falcon and the thing cooks. I'ts been through a lot of abuse but still pulls hard and doesnt smoke, eat oil or anything else. Gas mileage is the only problem for me; 5mpg....but thats the price you pay.

5mpg? You must have a VERY VERY VERY heavy foot. Event w/ a 347 you should not get 5mpg. I have seen big blocks w/ better gas mileage!
