yea but its fuel injected, forged internals, higher compression, new heads, and more torque
plus the 86 has the 8.8" traction-lok rearend

the intake though similar to the newer design, has very tiny ports
the TB is a puny 58mm
85 had forged internals also
86 had new heads but they still sucked, not even as good as e7s - quote= "the high swirl combustion chambers are useless for performance and essentially render the heads junk." - william mathis, mustang performance handbook
compression was slightly higher, but the flat-top pistons were more of a henderance than an advantage
the 85 came with a 7.5 POS rear, so you've got me there.
also the 86 did have a better clutch

i didnt sell it to get and 85. it was still my uncles car it would have been mine when i got out of school but he had to sell it to pay bills and plus he broke his hand i love dat car. but that 85 i want its engine was board out
