EGR, Remove?

EGR, Remove?
I recently saw an article in MM&FF about putting a new intake manifold and carb on a 85 capri 5.0. The manifold they used was the Weiand Stealth. The gains they showed were good, so I figured this would be a manifold I would like to buy, but there is a problem. It has no provisions for EGR. If I buy this manifold, how would I go about removing the EGR? If I remove the EGR, will that cause the car to fail emissions? If I shouldn't remove the EGR, which manifold is a good choice that has EGR? This is for a 1983 Mustang 5.0L carburated application.

RE: EGR, Remove?
EGR systems are used to reduce NOx emissions. Failing the emissions test will depend on the levels required for '83 models + if the inspector does a visual of the engine...some times, even when the sniffer check is a pass, not having the component (EGR) on the engine will cause a "failed" outcome.....need to check this first.
Carbed intakes with EGR valve provisions are very limited or non-existent.

screw the EGR... It's easy to remove.. you have a spacer under the carb that has egr on it. all you do is remove the manifold and the spacer.... presto... egr gone... now for the charcoal box....I'ld get a new carburator as well. You can get a holley for cheap at a swap meet and rebuild it. If you don't know anything about carbs, an edelbrock isn't a bad choice. It's not as performance as a Holley but they aren't bad carbs. I've got one that I don't use because I've become a Holley man. PM me if you're interested.
