Default BBK header / x pipe fit?

i spent all day yesterday battling with my new bbk unequal length shortie headers. the car has a offroad x pipe on it and once the headers are torqued down, the x pipe is off by about 1/2". i ended up dropping the whole x pipe down and torqued down the headers. i reinstalled the mid pipe but when i tried to tighten the pipe to the headers one of the sides leaks. i tightened one header to the mid pipe completely then went to the other one and tried to tighten it (probably a mistake). but the pipe doest want to sit perfectly on the other header. suggestions?

Check and make sure there is no visable mistakes on the headers (mainly the flange). If there doesnt seem to be one try a different x-pipe. We put BBK Longtubes on our 93 and the header flange was bent nocking the h-pipe off by .5". A new header fixed our problem.

^^prolly the header but when installing an exhaust system the rule of thumb is to torque the headers down and tighten the system from the tailpipes forward evenly adjusting it... try getting all bolts started and then tighten them all lil bit at a time (evenly)

My stock H didn't match up w/ my FRPP headers exactly either... I pulled and got it close enough I could bolt it up. Then I just made sure it closed up flush as I tightened it. Just needs some elbow grease.......
