Occassional hesitation and pop
Hello, I have a 1995 Cobra that I just bought and have put only 10 miles on. I just replaced my cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires with all ford motorsport parts. It was raining today and I think this might be the problem, I was driving to get the car inspected and every once and a while the car would hesitate and pop but only about 10% of the time. Last night when I drove it it ran perfect. I replaced the upper and lower rad hoses and I also topped off the radiatior this morning and noticed the fluid was a little lower than where I filled it to when I just checked it, some must have leaked out or came out of the overflow bottle. What would the car act like if the cap or wires got wet? Could this be all thats wrong? I am sure the rain didnt help either, anyone have anything similar happen? Thanks, Dave

you should check the timing. maybe it is a little of causeing the pop. i know when my timing was off it would occasionaly pop. check that first. i dont know about what could happen if that stuff got wet. hope this helps

moisture seeping into the connections could definitely cause some misfiring and popping. get some silicon dielectric grease from the nearest auto parts store and go back and put a big dab on all the wire connections at the plugs and at the distributor cap. this will help seal out the moisture and probably correct the problem.

Just found out my bypass hose has a huge slice in it, found it when I was chagning the thermostat. Dont know if it caused the problem or not, I am replacing it today.

yeah, this could be it as it is right next to the distributor and moisture getting into the distributor will definitely cause misfiring to occur. pull the cap after you change the hose and clean it out real good and make sure it is dry after you get through cleaning it.

Well it wasnt the bypass hose, replaced it and it still pops. changed the plugs again thuinking maybe I got a bad one and that didnt help. Guess I will just drive it and see if there really is all that water in there like the garage said
