Hey roundman, where does the spout connector go, cause mine has a plug in it, as in a piece of plastic just plugging the connector so crap doesn't get in it. It's never been connected to anything.

That little plug is your spout. it shouldn't plug to anything. If you pull the piece of plastic on the inside, you should see your engine's rpms go down. That is when you set your timing. After you are finished, plug the plastic back in, and leave it alone.

the new guy is right on about this one vert! it just hangs there doing nothing except when you remove it to set the base timing, then you plug it back in and that's that.

Ahhhh, see my car has an engine and tranny from a 93 so I'm used to seeing empyt connectors here and there. I always thought it was a bit odd that it had something plugging it and was thinking what the hell could me missing a connection to the distributor that would still allow it to run fine. lol. Alright, well thanks for the info, I'll have to go reset my timiming with that out then. I always thought when you were talking about unplugging that it was from something else, not just taking that little plug out.

I set it yesterday with the spout disconnected, the timing dropped about 3 degrees when I unplugged it so now I actually do have it set at 14 instead of like 11. Runs real nice now.

I'm a little confused on the "changing the firing order" issue. I don't know if a 351 has the same firing order as the 302, but how can you just change it? If they are different, then the cam will be different. Did you have it wrong the first time or something?

-Collin-

>>>>>>There is a firing order for the 302 HO and there is a firing order for 302/351. The cam in my car calls for the 302/351 firing order.

bboothe you got it backwards. the 302/5.0 high output and the 351 have the same firing order, 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 while the 289/302/regular 5.0 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. both the crank and the cam are ground different for the two different firing orders.

I thought that sounded a little off about the 351's being different.
