RE: how hard is it to install a cam?
let's see it's not that hard..you just need to pay attention..but if you not mechanicialy incline I'd say don't...but here is a quick over view..you need a socket set both metric and standard and a harmonic balancer puller..can be rent or bought, scraper, rages.some cleaner, screw drivers
list of stuff
antifreeze
water pump gasket
valve cover gaskets
timing chain set (might as well change it)
oil for an oil change
cam lube 1 tube
1 tube of blue rv
things you have to pull off
rad (maybe)
fan
water pump
crank pulley
hom. balancer
valve covers
intake
timing chain
dist
pos. battery cable
lifters
push rods
rockers ( just loosen them up as need be)
this all takes about 2-3 for someone who knows what to do and has air tools
5-8 those that don't

If I understand right, a 303 cam is cast iron, right? If so, be sure you have a cast iron gear on the distributor.
Are there different 303 cams out there? So far I've seen E 303 and B 303. I'm guessing B would be an earlier version than E?
Sorry if I've made this more confusing, but I am confused

RE: how hard is it to install a cam?
heres what you asked about nhdungeonracer
the B303 has duration of 284/284 and lift of .480"/.480" for 3500-5400 rpm
the E303 has duration of 282/282 and lift of .498/.498 for up to 6000 rpm
the X303 has durtion of 286/286 and lift of .542/.542 big cam for modified engines
the F303 has duration of 288/288 and lift of .512/.512 for more mid range power
the Z303 has duration of 290/290 and lift of .552/.552 for big time torque and HP making
above information is from the Holcomb Motorsports, Inc. parts catalog. the B and E cams are $179.95 each, the X is $189.95 and the others are $199.95 each.
I think this is a bit more useful than trying to look it up on the website OB left you.

RE: how hard is it to install a cam?
Anderson makes a tool called the AFM TAPPET TOOL. Helps quite a bit.
This a great time saver for changing cams.
This tool goes through the push rod holes and pulls up the tappets with a high powered magnet, so the cam may be removed without taking the intake off.
This saves 2.5 to 3 hours.
You can get it here or other places I believe for maybe even cheaper.
