it's not a magnet..it's a check valve ball
ORIGINAL: 5.0 MPG

check your pcv behind your intake. take it out and shake it lightly. the magnet inside should not move. if it does replace it.

this sounds like a vacum issue. start with this.

if you have to replace it buy a can of seafoam and run it through your intake and check for exhaust leaks while someone stomps on the gas.

+1, I went out and bought a new PCV valve anyways just for the hell of it. But anyways, does anyone think that this throttle body might be the issue? If so, I just priced one for 149.99 for the TB and EGR spacer, they're kinda dirty and non-shiny and a new mac throttle body and EGR spacer might just be the way to go for me.

Could it be my TPS sensor? The voltage is set correctly. What's the voltage on the TPS supposed to be at when the car is running at idle?

My tps is reading (while the car is on and running at idle, which is currently idling at 1100 rpms) .965 when the car is on and idling, when the motor is off, the voltage reads .905 which is alright.

It also seems like my car runs a little bit better with the tps disconnected, but it doesn't show any codes for anything! This is driving me nuts and leading me to the conclusion that I might need to get a new throttle body.

How's the idle with the IAC disconnected?....does it stay over 1,000 rpms?...TPS voltage output closed throttle is OK (.8 - 1.0vdc is fine).

Alright boys, this thread is officially closed woohoo!!! I got it cured! and my idle is perfect and when I rev it and let off it drops right down to 650 rpms and stays there, it's awesome! Unfortuantely, I had to go to stangnet.com to find information on how to cure it.

I can't remember the website, but they have a sticky about it! Go to stangnet.com, and go into the 5.0 technical forum and look at their stickies, it's posted their, we need to make a sticky about it.

That's not fair. At least give us a clue, so we don't have to go to a different site!
