Default 302 to 306 swap

I have been pricing some new motors for my car and was curious as to what it would take to swap my stock 302 with a 306 street fighter.... will the wiring harness and such be compatible? will my stock 5 speed handle what this motor will dish out? will it fit on my stock motor mounts etc?

Thanks in advance.

yeah everything is compatible. all a 306 is, is a 302 block that has been bored and honed (.030 over) to clean the cylinder walls... nothing big.

To tell you the truth, if I was going to be swapping a whole motor I wouldnt even waste my time w/ that. I would just go with a 331 or 347. ACTUALLY, I would go w/ a 351W.

To be honest, I am just looking to swap the stock 5.0 with something a bit more capable of handling a 13 psi blower and a 100 shot of NOS with as lilttle headache as possible during the install. Now a 351 sounds ideal but is it a direct install as well?

id also get a 331 or 347 crate motor. the more cubes, the better it will run with boost.

The one thing that really worries me about those ctrate strokers is that they are notorious for not being able to pass emissions, and I am required to do emissions testing here in Montgomery County, Texas.

Well, I will tell you one thing. You are taking a huge risk by trying to run 13psi and a 100 shot. Good luck w/ a stock 5.0 block! If you dont want to go w/ a race block than a 351W is really your only option. Here is everything you will need for the swap...........
