injector question... anybody ever heard this situation?
As I continue to collect parts and info for my upcoming super charger installation, a friend lays this on me.... and it just don't sound right, but he's somewhat of a guru...
I wanna use 30lb injectors, he says use 24 or 36lb units 'cause the 30s don't work well at low speed... tend to run way too rich until rpms are up..
I think as long as the MAF is properly calibrated, the 30s should work as good as any other size injector...
My purpose for wanting the 30s and not 24s is to allieviate the need for high line pressure in the fuel system... I want to keep it down around 40 psi nominal if possible.... no 65 to 70 psi.... I think that's too much for the system and pump...
btw... engine is a MAF 5.8L Lightning engine and will get a Kenne Bell Blowzilla s/charger later this spring/summer...
your opinions please... anybody got any experience with the 30s?

yeah i had 30lbs on my car for about a year with MAF
and had no complaints on running too rich on low rpm's so
i'd say if thats stopping u , go for it
but in his defense , i'd go with the 36lbs just if ur planning on doing the upgrade in S/C pulleys
so u dont have to worry abou fuel later on..

Injectors aren't gonna act different in different RPM's based on their pressure ratings. If you want the 30's then go for it but you may as well go up and do the rest of the fuel system while you're at it.

are you following the Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords build-up with the Lightning motor in a Mustang. They call it Frightening! and it's one bad Stang. They had to cut a big hole in the hood in order to clear the top of the motor and it's frying the tires off it but they're working on it as we speak. you might want to check out their web site for some information on this change, maybe they could answer you question about the injector size.

Thanks for the input... I thought the idea of one series of injectors running too rich, while other different flow rated injectors worked fine was kinda screwy... I'm thinking the 30s will be my first choice and I'll just tune/calibrate to that flow rate...
Any suggestions on which MAF to use? Is there such thing as an adjustable MAF? And what are y'alls preferences on the Fuel Pressure regualtor?
Thanks

I just installed one from Aeromotive, nice piece, price was $109. billet red aluminum looks good too. also spent another $100 for an Autometer pro comp liquid filled gauge, mounting cup, and SS braided hose and installed it on cowl right in front of driver's seat so I easily see it going down the track. also moved my mechanical oil pressure gauge from dash right up next to fuel gauge. looks damn good even if I must say so myself.
