Default Help! have question re: 2001 Mustang Cobra

Got the cobra buying bug... the above cobra caught my eye and appears to be in excellent condition with 28k mi.. Along with the usual stuff; extras include: flowmaster, lojack, BBK cold air induction system, 18" cobra R polished rims, and 100k mile premium care coverage (transferable) asking price $19k.
Ok...took the car for a test drive yesterday, and this thing was a slug[:@] until about 4or5krpm. The owner related that this is a normal characteristic.
Is this true? Was 2001 a "good" year for the mustang cobra?
Where can I find unbiased information(besides here) regarding this model and year?
thank you

I find hard to believe that's a normal characteristic. Granted, it'll have more power at that rpm, but it shouldn't be a "slug" after 2000 rpm and up.
