Default quad shocks

Someone told me they removed the quad shocks off of the rear end. Has anybody else done this and how does it affect traction and handling. They removed them to fit wider tires.

Default quad shocks

I had to remove my quad shocks to clear my Mickey Thompson 28X10.5-15 tires. I had heard that you would experience wheel hop without them but at the track it was fine. On the street doing a big burn out I do notice some hop but when you launch it's smooth. My car is really a drag only set up so for handling I wouldn't know. I've removed the sway bar too so cornering isn't my thing anyway.

Hi,

I removed my Quads. 265 tires in the rear. I have NO hops, handling is still great, but I do have Sub-Frame connectors and rear upper and lowers for control.....to tell you the truth, I can't tell the diff. and it still handles like it's on rails.... (I have a '90).

Very interesting. I wondered the same thing.

I have a question that's sort of related. I've heard that's it's generally better to have the same size tires on a car all around, as far as handling and rotation are concerned. If you were to put wider tires in the rear, obviously rotation wouldnt' be possible anymore, but how much does this hurt how the car handles? Something noticable? Barely noticable? Big difference?

i know that a lot of the higher end sports cars have wider tires on the back than the front and i'm sure they handle fine. I don't thinkit would effect your handling

That's true, Diablos and Ferrari's usually have wider tires out back, forgot about that. Thanks
